Finance Assistant

Due to growth, we wish to recruit an additional Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department.

Salary Range: Band 4 FTE £30,209- £33,400 with performance-based yearly increments available. Actual starting salary for 20 hours- £14,632. Actual starting salary for 25 hours- £18,290.

Working Hours: 20–25 hours per week, between the hours of 8am - 4pm Monday- Friday.

Working Weeks: 41 weeks 

This is a varied role and will suit someone who has good all-round administration experience, ideally from within a Finance department environment.  

The Finance Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Finance Department and staff of the school and to students in all financial matters.  The processing of all financial data is carried out within the Finance Office, but for specified times within the Academy day, there is a requirement for on-site support to deal with face-to-face enquiries relating to monetary matters. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Receiving approved purchase orders from budget holders and processing them through the Finance System and placing order direct with supplier
  • Receiving daily Finance Post and distributing to relevant parties and matching to finance paperwork for processing where applicable
  • Checking invoices received for accuracy, matching to correct purchasing documentation and processing through the Finance System
  • Maintaining the petty cash, recording all income and outgoings and reconciling on a monthly basis
  • Timely banking of all cash and checking all cash receipts agree with cash banked
  • Assisting with Academies’ lettings- dealing with enquiries, taking bookings, maintaining Academy Lettings Calendar, raising invoices
  • Checking of weekly payment run
