Science Workshop Boosts Year 9 Confidence

Interactive session helps reinforce key topics.

Earlier this term, a group of Year 9 students participated in a full-day science intervention workshop delivered by PET-Xi.

The workshop aimed to reinforce key concepts and boost students’ confidence by combining focused revision with interactive learning activities. The day was designed to be engaging and accessible, ensuring that students could deepen their understanding without feeling overwhelmed.

The sessions featured a variety of games and activities related directly to the science topics covered in class, helping to make complex ideas more approachable. Tutors provided personalised support and created an encouraging environment where all students felt comfortable to participate and ask questions.

“The science intervention was really helpful; it helped me understand some topics I was struggling with. The session was very interactive—we played games while working, so it didn’t feel overwhelming. It was fun, engaging, and informative. The team were knowledgeable and great at their jobs, so yeah, I loved it.” Sammy.B

“It was very interactive with fun games and activities relating to the science topics we covered throughout the day. Although we had already learned these topics, the extra revision made me feel more confident. The tutors were very supportive and understanding. Everyone had a chance to speak, which was great to see. It was a very positive and happy environment, and I was very glad to take part.” Rezia.O

“The science intervention programme was really useful because I learned new things and remembered things I had forgotten through the lessons. I really enjoyed the teaching throughout the day.” Annuoluwa.S
