Live music and empowering messages leave students informed and inspired.
On Wednesday 16th July, students at the Lower Academy took part in their final Safeguarding Event of the academic year.
During the day, students watched a live performance from rising girl band XO, who combined music with meaningful messages. Between songs, the group spoke with students about a range of important safeguarding topics, including mental health and wellbeing, discrimination, equality, body image, and respect. They shared strategies and advice to help students feel empowered and supported in their everyday lives.
Students were highly engaged throughout the session, sharing that they not only enjoyed the performance but also felt inspired and better informed.
At lunchtime, all students had the chance to speak with representatives from Essex Youth Service, who were on hand to promote local events and activities available throughout the summer holidays.
It was a powerful and positive way to round off a year of safeguarding education at the Lower Academy.
