Students used their creative thinking to set up a range of stalls and came up with fun ways to raise money for charity including selling slime made in science lessons, a Royal Family memory test challenge and egg and spoon races. The classic throw a wet sponge at the teacher proved particularly popular!

One of the highlights of the event was the fantastic student choir, whose hard work in rehearsals shone through when they entertained the crowd with their selection of songs.

The afternoon was buzzing with a great community feel and plenty of complimentary tea and cake available to all guests with the chance to win great prizes in the charity raffle. 

The hard work of the students and the generosity of the guests meant an amazing £874.43 was raised for ‘Save the Children’, a charity of which the Queen has previously been a patron.   

Kabelo.M, a Year 7 student who sang in the Jubilee choir says,"when I saw the big crowd, I was really nervous to perform but after the first set I felt so happy and my nerves went away. During the second set I was more confident to dance as well as sing! I really enjoyed it!”  

Callum.C, Year 7, was also in the choir had an extra reason to celebrate, explaining, “I really enjoyed being part of choir because singing is passion of mine, and I also won the first prize in the raffle!”

“Singing in the choir was really fun, and this was my first time in front of an audience”, Ray.S in Year 7 agrees, “and also the homemade mint lemonade on one of the stalls was really tasty!”

Year 7 student James.W also enjoyed the event, adding “I liked seeing how every group decorated their stalls to raise money for Save the Children."

Gary Smith, Executive Headteacher, congratulated all involved in the celebrations; “Well done to all the students and staff for their efforts in creating a fantastic event to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It was great to see so many parents and family members supporting the event and helping us to raise so much money for Save the Children.”
