National Recycling Week

Year 7 Students Promote Recycling.

As part of their Geography studies, Year 7 students have been developing their skills in field sketching and map work. During these activities, students surveyed the school site to identify the location of bins and to investigate recycling habits within the school community.

The timing of the project was particularly significant as it coincided with National Recycling Week. While completing their fieldwork, many students also took the initiative to collect and dispose of litter responsibly.

To further raise awareness, students designed eye-catching posters promoting recycling and encouraging others to take action against littering. These will be displayed around the school to inspire the whole community to play their part in protecting the environment.

Students are also continuing their efforts to support the homeless by recycling crisp packets into blankets, which will be delivered to a chosen charity once enough have been made.

The lesson was a great success, and students were keen to share their views on why recycling matters:

“Littering can kill animals that may think that the litter is food and it may be harmful.” Aubree.B

“Recycling stops grass dying and trees dying and they help humans, so we need to look after nature.” Aiden.S

“Recycling is crucial for the environment.” Capria.J

“If you recycle you can use it again and stop it going to landfill.” Sydni-Mae.H
