The piano has been part of our school's rich history since 1966, when it was first installed at the former Chalvedon School. For decades, it has provided the soundtrack to countless concerts, performances, assemblies and special occasions, becoming a much-loved part of the school's musical heritage.

Having most recently taken pride of place in the Upper Academy Main Hall, the piano has now been carefully transported to its new home in the Lower Academy Atrium. Following its move, the instrument was expertly positioned and professionally tuned, ensuring it is ready to inspire the next generation of young musicians.

To celebrate the occasion, four of our talented students, who receive one-to-one piano tuition through our instrumental lessons programme, were the first to perform on the piano in its new location. Their performances marked the beginning of an exciting new era for this remarkable instrument.

We look forward to showcasing our magnificent Steinway & Sons Grand Piano at future Open Evenings, concerts and community events, where prospective families and visitors will be able to enjoy performances from our talented Lower Academy musicians while experiencing the vibrant musical life of our school.

As the piano approaches 60 years of inspiring young people, we are proud that it will continue to play such an important role in the musical journey of our students for many years to come.
