Year 6 Begin Their Journey to The Lower Academy

Last week, we welcomed Year 6 students from our local primary schools to the Lower Academy for three exciting days of transition activities.

With different groups joining us each day, students had the opportunity to experience life at the Academy, take part in new activities and begin to get to know their future surroundings.

Throughout their visit, students took part in a range of engaging sessions designed to help them feel confident and excited about starting their next chapter. Activities included an “All About Me” session, where students completed a worksheet to share more about themselves and their interests, as well as a creative Drama session based around “The Night Circus”. Using a picture as a stimulus, students worked together to create their own drama pieces and explore their creativity.

Students also enjoyed a PE session focused on rounders, spent time socialising over and took part in activities designed to help them meet new people and build friendships ahead of starting at the Lower Academy.

A special assembly was also held to welcome students and give them a further insight into life at the Academy.

We look forward to welcoming many of our Year 6 visitors back again before the start of the new school year for our Summer School in August, where they can continue to build confidence and prepare for their next exciting step.
