Students Learn Lifesaving First Aid Skills

As part of their PD and RSHE curriculum, Year 7 students have been developing their understanding of essential first aid skills.

Their recent lessons have focused on how to respond in emergency situations, including what to do if someone is having an asthma or panic attack, how to safely approach an injured person, and how to administer CPR.

Students had the opportunity to put their learning into practice by performing CPR on training dummies. The sessions were full of energy, with plenty of singing to the beat of Baby Shark to help keep the correct rhythm, and friendly competitions to see who could go for the longest. A special mention goes to Akebah.S and Elidio.K, who managed an impressive 10 minutes of continuous CPR.

Throughout the term, students will continue their first aid learning by exploring how to place someone in the recovery position and how to treat injuries using bandages.

“It’s good to learn CPR because it can save lives.” Charlotte.D

“It was an intense and practical lesson.” Zain.M

“We now know how to keep airflow in the body to help keep someone alive.” Polly.S

“This was a really good and engaging lesson. I did CPR for 10 minutes continuously.” Akebah.S
