ICT
Our Vision
Our curriculum is designed in line with the KS3 National Curriculum, ensuring breadth, depth and progression. It develops knowledge, skills and cultural capital, while embedding Literacy (through learning about Office Suite, Programming and Web Design), Numeracy (through Excel and Programming) and Personal Development (through resilience and computer skills). This is partly done by knowledge from subjects such as, Mathematics, English, Humanities and Art. Teaching ensures all learnings feel safe, valued and included, with adaptive approaches.
Careers links and real-world applications are embedded throughout. Teaching ensures all learnings feel safe, valued and included, with adaptive approaches. It teaches the learner valuable skills, such as building discussions, how to communicate and problem solving. Careers links and real-world applications are embedded throughout due to the nature of our ICT curriculum.
Our Way
Teaching uses explicit instruction, modelling, scaffolding and retrieval practice, supported by formative assessment strategies such as questioning, low-stakes quizzes and feedback in line with EEF guidance. Lessons are structured to build on prior knowledge and support progress for all learners. Learners’ new knowledge/skills are modelled first before the learner completes these for themselves. Feedback is given to the learnings verbally/through teams so that they can adapt to what they are doing.
Our Goal
Success means all learners acquire secure knowledge, can apply skills independently and are prepared for further study in KS4 and lifelong learning that will help them with the model digital age away from gaming.
